The Joan Mitchell Foundation 2010 MFA Grant Exhibition is up at the Cue Art Foundation through July 30. Make sure to stop by if you find yourself in New York City; it's a great show.

I traveled to install the work and attend the opening, where I met the other 14 recipients, foundation members and other artists. The following day the Foundation held a professional development day for all the recipients in the Chelsea Arts Tower. There we participated in conversations with gallerists, Heather Darcy Bhandari, Director of Mixed Greens and Matthew Deleget, Artist and Co-Founder of Minus Space. They gave some great insight on creating and maintaining relationships with galleries. Next, Christa Blachford gave a helpful Grant Writing presentation. We had lunch with one of the catalog writers, Charles Schultz. We then met Molly Surno, Artist and Outreach Dirctor of Kickstarter who gave a presentation on Fundraising as a Visual Artist. The day ended in conversation with Allision Hawkins, Program Director and Christa Blachford, Artist Support Director from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. The discussion revolved mainly around our plans for the year to come; it was great to hear where everyone is at in their careers right now. Great Experience.

Review of White by Kat Murrell

Kat Murrell, Art Historian and contributing writer for The Wisconsin Gazette reviewed White at The Katie Gingrass Gallery. She wrote about the show in an insightful way and characterizes much of the work in poetic and descriptive terms giving the reader a clear and visual sense of what she is seeing; it is a great read. If you haven't already seen White, it is open through March 25, 2011.
